Have a Drink for A Cause: Cutler Real Estate to Host Karma Keg at Rhinegeist
Who knew that by simply sipping a drink, you could be helping someone in need? Karma Keg, a monthly event hosted by Cutler Real Estate throughout Ohio, makes this dream possible by bringing the community together over good beer — for a good cause.
These monthly events take place in beloved venues across their respective towns, ranging from classic neighborhood bars to upscale wineries. On September 25, Cincinnati will host its first Karma Keg event at Rhinegeist in the historic Over the Rhine neighborhood.
What is the great cause? Well, it could be anything. Part of what makes Karma Keg so fun is that none of the charities are chosen in advance. People show up with their friends and family and make a donation to drink from the keg. Towards the end of the night, a name is drawn, and all of the funds raised that night are given to the charity of the winner's choice. Anyone who happens to be in attendance that night is welcome to join in the fun!
Since its inception in Columbus earlier this year, Karma Keg has already raised nearly $5,000 for local charities including the Akron Children's Hospital, the Delaware County Humane Society, Refuge of Hope, Pelotonia, Creative Living, Habitat for Humanity and Canine Companion for Independence. Your favorite charity could be next!

How It All Began
Karma Keg is the brainchild of Vinny DeFrancisco of Cutler Real Estate. He heard of a similar concept in Houston (run by Ryan Bokros), and decided that such a wonderful event needed a place in the Midwest. Especially since he had been personally affected by events like this before. "A friend who I met during an event like this became a lifelong friend. He helped me raise a lot of money during my cancer treatments," he said. The main goal here is to bring people together. "I love connecting people," he says. "If I introduce someone, it could lead to them getting a job, [getting] married, etc." Cincinnati's first Karma Keg is expected to draw hundreds of charitable beer lovers from all over the Tri-State area. Rhinegeist is one of the most beloved gems in Cincinnati, serving crisp and flavorful craft beer to thirsty residents of Over the Rhine. The name actually translates to "Ghost of the Rhine," and refers to its location in the historic brewery district in OTR. Built within the skeleton of the old Moerlein bottling plant, Rhinegeist gave the building new life when it opened in 2013.
