You might have heart of this cute little donut shop before. Holtman's has been serving the Cincinnati area since 1960, and since 1960, has been a favorite for locals and visitors alike. We wouldn't be true Cincinnatians if we didn't include an authentic chili place on this list. Our pick is Empress — the shop that truly started it all. Empress was started by immigrant restaurateurs, Tom and John Kirajieff. The brothers served the first "coney" dog in 1922 outside of a burlesque theatre named the Empress, which of course became the namesake of their new restaurant. The shop has since expanded to three locations across the region, but still stays true to its original chili recipe. Mmm mm good. Still craving chili? Here are the 13 best places to find chili in Cincinnati.

There's no place to satisfy your burning craving for pizza than at Fireside! The local hot-spot is situated in an old Cincinnati firehouse, and pays homage to the area's brave firefighters with its quirky decor and delicious, wood-fire cooked pizzas. Once you've chosen a pizza (you can't go wrong), pick a beer on tap to quench your thirst.

Choose from one of the specialty ramen bowls, or take the opportunity to make your own. Either way — make sure to accompany your selection with an order of sesame waffle fries or flavorful chicken wings for the table.

There's no doubt in our mind that Mazunte is one of the best places to get a margarita in Cincinnati, but this local haunt is also widely recognized for its delicious and authentic Mexican street food. Stop by on Taco Tuesday (or any day for that matter) to see what all the fuss is about! We highly recommend the steak tacos, which are topped with pickled red onion, pico de gallo, salsa roja and goat cheese.

Queen City Radio is one of Cincinnati's newer restaurants, but has already established itself as a popular local hang out. Hungry hopefuls flock here for the chic modern digs, the innovative cocktails (bourbon slushie, anyone?) and of course the food! The burgers are served up by Queen City Whip, which is permanently parked outside, and feature a ground chuck, brisket and sirloin blend, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle, ketchup, mustard, mayo and melted cheddar on a toasted bun. They may look simple — but they pack a flavorful punch.
