Presidents' Day is a time to honor our fearless leaders and figureheads, and in Ohio, we certainly know how to throw them a good party! Our state is actually unofficially nicknamed "The Mother of Presidents." Eight of our nation's 45 Presidents hailed from Ohio, and of those, four called Cincinnati home. Our city is filled with fun things to do, great charities, sweet happy hour deals, dog-friendly facilities and more. Not to mention, an impressive lineup of fun events every weekend. So get out there and take advantage of the three-day weekend at one of these exciting family-friendly events, which begin on Friday and go all the way through Monday.

See the Cincinnati Ballet at the Carnival of the Animals

Friday, February 16, 7:30-9:30 pm

The Cincinnati Ballet will perform at the Fitton Center for the very first time for this month's Fitton Family Friday. Come experience a humorous and enchanting production with all of your favorite animals, performed by some of the area's best up-and-coming dancers.

Go to A Glass-Blowing Class Together

Saturday, February 17, 10 am Many Presidents, when they weren't busy running the country, were art enthusiasts! Celebrate the day by going to an art class with your little one. Brazee Street Studios will host a family-friendly glass blowing class over the weekend, which will allow your child to make a beautiful glass creation to display in his or her room. Also, don't miss the "Make a Mess: Alphabet Tree" workshop on Monday, February 19, which will take place at the Blue Manatee Children's Book Store in collaboration with Brazee Street Studios.

Family ARTventures at the Cincinnati Art Museum

Of course, there is more than one way to celebrate art in Cincinnati. Head to the world-renowned Cincinnati Art Museum for Family ARTventures, which takes place every Saturday at 2 pm. You'll enjoy a docent-led interactive tour with fun facts and hands-on activities for the whole family.

Hop on The Hero Train

Saturday, February 17, 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm What's better than taking the train? Taking the train alongside some of your favorite heroes! Embark on a 15 mile round-trip ride through scenic Warren County in the 1930s restored Lackawanna coach cars. Also on the train will be a cast of fun characters that will engage in activities and pose for photos with their biggest fans.

Gaze at the Stars

Sunday, February 18, 1-3 pm Prepare for an absolutely out-of-this-world experience at the Winter Star Quest! You'll be able to marvel at the night sky in an inflatable planetarium while learning about the most famous planets and constellations. It's all happening at the Winton Woods Centre this weekend, and costs only $2 per person.

See Pinocchio at Playhouse in the Park

Friday, February 16, 7 pm Saturday, February 17, 10 am and 2 pm Sunday, February 18, 2 pm The beloved tale of a wooden puppet dreaming to be a real boy is this season's hit at Cincinnati's Playhouse in the Park. Enjoy four showings over Presidents' Day Weekend at various venues throughout town. Check the performance schedule for details.  

Explore the Ark

The Ark Encounter is a larger-than-life display of biblical history, and has been immensely popular since its opening! See inside of the ark and explore three decks of world-class exhibits. This season, you can enjoy open access to the Ark Grounds for no charge.

Celebrate President's Day at the William Howard Taft National Historic Site

Monday, February 19, 10 am Every year, the William Howard Taft National Historic Site celebrates Presidents' Day by offering Junior Ranger Activities and free admission to all. Visitors of all ages are welcome to join in the fun, which include family-friendly games and prizes!

Go to the Presidents' Day Cup Volleyball Tournament

Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18, Times Vary Your up-and-coming sports enthusiast will have a ball at the Presidents' Day Cup Volleyball Tournament. Cheer on your favorites alongside fellow fans at the Duke Energy Convention Center!

Have a Maple Syrup Day

Monday, February 19, 11 am Did you know that President Thomas Jefferson was one of the original supporters for maple syrup? What better way to honor him than eating the sweet delicacy? After your morning pancakes, head over to the Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve, which will host classes on maple sugaring, a fun hike, syrup tasting, a movie and more at its Kids' Day at the Park.  

Go to a Presidential Storytime At the Blue Manatee

Monday, February 19, 2:30 pm The Blue Manatee is one of the area's most beloved children's bookstores. Bring your child on Presidents' Day to learn more about Presidents Lincoln and Washington through exciting stories. They'll also get to make a special craft to take home with them! Bonus: This event is completely free for kids ages 3 and older.
