We all know our traditional ABC's because we've spent years writing and reciting them. But what about the ABC's of Canton? Today, we're swapping apple for Amish country and cat for the Canton Brewing Company — because it's always fun to think about what makes our area so amazing! Keep reading to get a peek into the essential landmarks, local businesses and unique characteristics of Canton, Ohio.  

A: Amish Country

Canton just happens to be the gateway to Ohio's Amish Country. Once you step foot into this idyllic area, you'll experience cozy farm-to-table restaurants, stunning back roads, cheese factories and hospitable inns. While the Amish enjoy a more simple way of life, it's far from boring. There's plenty to do an see in the area, so get lost in Amish country this weekend using our guide!

B: Blue Water Majesty Museum

This hidden gem is the perfect way to spend an hour when exploring the Canton area. Visit and peruse model ships handmade from exotic woods by artist Larry Pulka. All of the models you'll get to see are exact duplicates of their full-grown sisters, made using copies of the original blueprint, and crafted without using paints or stains!

C: Canton Brewing Company

The Canton Brewing Company has a rich history dating back to 1883. Still a Canton staple, the brewery has remained committed to the historic beers that made them famous over a century ago, while also continuing to craft new and innovative brews. We recommend grabbing a delicious handmade pizza along with your pint of locally brewed beer at the brewhouse when you visit!

D: Downtown

Downtown is where you can truly feel the heartbeat of our artsy city. The area is filled with bustling restaurants and cafes, historic buildings and monuments, art galleries and shops, music venues, theaters, and so much more! Check out our guide to spending a full day in the area.

E: Ernie's Bike Shop

Canton is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. With our proximity to the Towpath Trail, an iconic 87-mile trail that runs through the heart of the Ohio & Erie Canalway, and several other fantastic biking trails, it makes sense that we have some of the best bike shops around. One of our favorites is Ernie's Bike Shop, a North Canton and Massillon staple since 1978.

F: Pro Football Hall of Fame

This world-renowned museum represents football in many colorful and entertaining ways — and it's located right here in Canton! Called the "Most Inspiring Place on Earth", visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame for incredible exhibits, displays and immersive experiences.

G: George's Lounge

Nestled in the Canton Arts District, George's Lounge is the second-longest operating bar in downtown Canton and is a fantastic spot for hand-crafted food and drinks. The laid-back decor and welcoming atmosphere will have you coming back again and again. Visit on a Wednesday and enjoy a grass-fed, gourmet burger for only $5!

H: Harry London Chocolates

Located in North Canton, Harry London Chocolates is one of the best spots to take out-of-town guests. They offer 45-minute tours of the factory, where you can learn the steps Harry London uses to carefully craft their gourmet chocolates. Afterward, stop in their retail store and pick up some goodies for the road, and don't forget to grab a box of their mouthwatering Buckeyes before you go!

I: 1899 Indoor Golf

In 1899, the first public golf course was established in Ohio. Now, over 100 years later, 1899 Indoor Golf is keeping the spirit alive with a premier indoor golf experience in Canton! They are open 365 days a year and it's always sunny on their 20 virtual courses so you don't have to worry about the weather ruining your golf game. It's also a great place to hang out, with a high-style bar that offers a rotating menu of craft cocktails, beer and wine.

J: Jackson Bog State Nature Preserve

Canton Oh Jackson Bog State Nature Preserve is a 58-acre preserve located in northern Stark County and supports over 20 state-listed rare plants. This area is a stunning location for a summer stroll and will give you an opportunity to view and learn about a vast population of flowering and carnivorous plants!

K: Kennedy's Barbecue

This landmark sandwich shop features on-premise smoked ham and pork, as well as turkey, roast beef and pulled pork sandwiches all served with Kennedy's signature homemade relish. For those with a sweet tooth, they also serve a variety of homemade pies, cookies and ice cream!

L: Lucca Downtown

Lucca is an upscale restaurant with a Tuscan-inspired menu full of locally sourced ingredients. Each dish is artistically prepared and they offer a wine menu that contains a glass to compliment every meal. Reservations are recommended for most nights.

M: McKinley Presidential Library & Museum

Former president William McKinley spent much of his life in Canton, where he practiced law and married his wife, Ida Saxton. The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum offers everything from a carefully curated museum and library to a hands-on interactive science center and planetarium. This museum honors the life of President McKinley as it tells the story of Stark County and you can visit 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

N: The National First Ladies' Library

Founded by Ida Saxton McKinley, The National First Ladies' Library is the only museum of its kind showcasing the history of First Ladies in America. The first floor of the historic site features a theater for movies and presentations along with various exhibits. The second floor features the library, which aims to provide unique and historical information to the public.

O: Ohio to Erie Trail

This primarily off-street recreational trail runs from the Ohio River to Lake Erie, spanning the state of Ohio from Cincinnati to Cleveland and following lands formerly occupied by railroads and canals. Currently, the full length of the trail is 326 miles. Head over to the nearest trailhead and ride your bike a few miles north to Canal Fulton or Clinton for some truly spectacular sights!

P: The Palace Theatre

Whether you want to see a movie or a play, you should do so at the historic Canton Palace Theatre. This beautiful theater opened in 1926 and offers some of the most gorgeous architecture in Canton!

Q: Quail Hollow Park

Quail Hollow Park is located a few miles north of Canton in Hartville, but it one of the most gorgeous parks around! With over 700 acres of rolling meadows, marshes, scenic woodland trails and gardens, it's a great place to experience beautiful Ohio nature. The lovely, 40-room H.B. Stewart family home is also located in the park and is now used for educational and community programs and events.

R: Real Estate

Canton has so much to offer, including amazing events and sites to explore, as well as a myriad of gorgeous homes for sale. S: Sluggers and Putters Amusement Park

Sluggers and Putters is located in Canal Fulton and is the area's largest family amusement park. What once started as just mini-golf, a driving range and batting cages has grown into a massive park with an abundance of things to do!

T: Troll Hole Museum

Did you know that our area is home to a Guinness World Record holder? Located in Alliance, the Troll Hole Museum, owned by collector Sherry Groom, is home to the largest collection of trolls in the world. With over 20,000 troll items and nearly 3,000 troll dolls alone it is certainly an incredible sight! Check out more Ohio Guinness World Record holders here

U: Urban and Loft

V: Gervasi Vinyard

We couldn't talk about popular Canton destinations without mentioning Gervasi Vinyard, one of the most famous spots in the area! This destination winery resort offers memorable experiences along with great food and stunning views. Their 55-acre estate is designed for couples seeking romantic dining options, families looking for a weekend of fun, and so much more.

W: Wilderness Center

This non-profit nature center boasts over 10 miles of hiking trails that include beautiful forests, a lake, pond, look-out tower and prairies! While you're there, be sure to stop by the Interpretive Building that houses a nature store, an interactive learning room and an animal observation area.

X: Exploration Gateway

Exploration Gateway is a Canton destination for weddings, banquets, meetings and presentations. It's also a space to just sit and enjoy the gorgeous view! Surrounding the Gateway, you'll find hiking and biking trails, a gift shop, and the magnificent Sippo Lake.

Y: Yankee Peddler Festival

For over 45 years, the Yankee Peddler Festival has been going strong every September in Canal Fulton. At this fun festival, step back in time 200 years and visit pioneer America. Meet master artists and crafters, sample food from colonial days, and enjoy over 75 acres of entertainment for the whole family!

Z: Zoar Village

Just a short drive south from Canton, you'll find Zoar Village, a small town founded in 1817 by German Separatists seeking escape from religious persecution in their homeland. Today, Zoar Village is made up of approximately 75 families and is home to spectacular museums, architecture and quaint village scenery. A visit to the area is the perfect way to spend a day and a must-do activity for anyone interested in history, art or architecture.
