Memorial Day is almost here! This three-day weekend offers the chance to honor those who fought so bravely for our country and spend a little extra time with our families. Plus, this weekend also marks the unofficial start of summer! In true Ohio fashion, the Akron and Canton areas will be celebrating the long weekend with patriotism, local festivals and plenty of great music. We've rounded up some of our most anticipated events during the weekend. On this list, you'll find everything from massive farmers' markets to spectacular parades. Enjoy!

Vintage Canton

Where: Central Plaza, Canton When: May 23, 4:30-9:30 p.m.

This fun annual festival takes place in the heart of downtown Canton and features live music, art exhibits, and top-notch wine from all over the world. Taste samples from your favorite wineries, selections from local breweries in the beer garden, and bites from the best Stark County restaurants — all in one convenient location!

2019 Blossom Time Music Festival

Where: Chagrin Valley Jaycees Page When: May 23-25, Thursday 8-10:30 p.m., Friday & Saturday 6-11 p.m. Every year, the Chagrin Valley Jaycees throw a spectacular festival over Memorial Day weekend. The festivities will include a carnival, food and drink vendors, along with plenty of family-friendly activities. You won't want to miss the grand parade downtown, which is a highlight of the festival and one of the most popular parades in the area!

Rabid Fest

Where: Buzzbin Art & Music Shop When: May 23-26, 4 p.m.-2 a.m. Music lovers rejoice! This Memorial Day weekend, one of the biggest musical events in Ohio is coming to Akron. Rabid Fest will feature over 20 metal, punk and rock bands from all over the country — and you can see them all for just $10. Tickets are available exclusively at Buzzbin Art and Music Shop.

Memorial Day Flea Market

Where: Hartville Marketplace & Flea Market When: May 23-27 Akron Canton Memorial Day Ohio

Hartville's Memorial Day Flea Market is one of the largest markets in Ohio, featuring more than 1,000 vendors! Peruse locally made art, baked goods, and fresh produce. There will also be food and beverages to refuel when you need a break from all your wandering!

4th Friday's Cruise-In & Farmers' Market

Where: Barley's Event Center, Louisville When: May 24, 4-8 p.m. Every fourth Friday this summer, Barley's Event Center in Louisville will be hosting a "cruise-in"! All makes and models of cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome to cruise into the front lawn and enjoy great music, food and door prizes. Plus, inside and outside of the barn, vendors and crafters will be set up selling fresh produce, baked goods, art creations and crafts!

Rock the Lock

Where: Lock 3, Akron When: May 24, 6-11 p.m. Join Lock 3 and 97.5 WONE every Friday night this summer and enjoy seeing some of your favorite tribute bands! During Memorial Day weekend, the concert will be a tribute to Bon Jovi, featuring Victory Highway and Crush. Gates open at 6 p.m. so grab a blanket and find a comfy spot!

Memorial Day Weekend at Clay's Park & Resort

Where: Clay's Park Resort, Lawrence When: May 24-27, Friday-Sunday 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday 12-7 p.m. Akron Canton Memorial Day Ohio The unofficial start of summer kicks off at Clay's Park and Resort! Clay's is one of Ohio's top outdoor camping, water park and event destinations, and during Memorial Day weekend, stop by and enjoy a military parade, a classic car show and the seasonal opening of their Adventure Waterpark!

Sippo Lake parkrun

Where: Sippo Lake, Canton When: May 25, 7:45-9 a.m. This holiday weekend, enjoy the fresh air at Sippo Lake in Canton! Every Saturday, this beautiful park offers a free, timed 5K perfect for runners, walkers, dog owners and families. The course follows the beautiful trails of Sippo Lake Park and includes sights like the new Wildlife Conservation Center, wetlands and a limestone trail. Afterward, make sure to stick around for the coffee social! You only have to register once, and participants are required to show their registration barcode before each 5K. You can register here

Ode to Otters

Where: The Akron Zoo When: May 25, 8-10 a.m. Akron Canton Memorial Day Ohio One of our favorite holidays is coming up — World Otter Day! To celebrate this important day, the Akron Zoo will be hosting a special breakfast complete with crafts, cookie decorating, keeper talks and, of course, otter appearances!

Let's Grow Akron Plant Sale

Where: First Congregational Church of Akron When: May 25-26, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. It's the gardening season! Purchase vegetable, herb and flower seedlings at the Let's Grow Akron and First Congregational Church of Akron's fundraiser this Memorial Day weekend. While you're there, you can enjoy live music, tours of the Feed My Sheep market garden and plenty of family-friendly activities. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Let's Grow Akron Community Farm and the Feed My Sheep Garden.

Family Fun Loop: Mythical Creatures

Where: Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Peninsula Depot When: May 26, 1:55 p.m. Climb aboard this half-loop excursion for an afternoon stuffed with family fun! Children will have the chance to create their own stuffed animals all while taking in the beautiful sights of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Departure is from the Peninsula Depot and will loop back over the course of two hours.

Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony

Where: Green High School and Veterans Park, Uniontown When: May 27, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Akron Canton Memorial Day Ohio Head over to the City of Green this Memorial Day for a plethora of fun events to celebrate the holiday! The popular parade will begin and end at the Green High School parking lot, winding its way through town with colorful floats and American flags. Afterward, visit the Veterans Memorial Park for a memorial ceremony honoring fallen soldiers and veterans. Plus, don't miss the free community picnic and antique car show that will follow the ceremony!

Memorial Day Parade Contest

Where: Springwood Lake Camp Club, East Sparta When: May 27, 9:30 a.m. This annual Memorial Day event is a local favorite, giving you the chance to decorate a golf cart or ATV and be a part of the Memorial Day parade! The festivities will begin after the flag raising ceremony at 9 a.m. at the front gate parking lot.

Canton Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony

Where: Timken High School When: May 27, 10 a.m. The annual Memorial Day parade will step off from Timken High School and will wind through town to Monument Park. Afterward, there will be a beautiful ceremony to honor fallen military members at the McKinley National Memorial.
